Let me introduce you to the creation story and the four main characters who were there in the beginning, the Father (Genesis 1:1), the Word, who is the pre-incarnate Christ (John 1:1-3), the Spirit (Genesis 1:2), and You! Yes, You and I were there in the beginning (Ephesians 1:4, Jeremiah 1:5, 2 Timothy 1:9).
Francois du Toit says it well in his translation of Ephesians 1:4-6 in The Mirror Bible.
He associated us in Christ before the fall of the world! Jesus is God’s mind made up about us! He always knew in his love that he would present us again face-to-face before him in blameless innocence. He is the architect of our design; his heart dream realized our coming of age in Christ. His grace plan is to be celebrated: he greatly endeared and highly favored us in Christ. His love for His Son is his love for us.
There has never been a time when God did not know and treasure you. This is the most beautiful picture of love and relationship; some have called it the circle dance—the eternal plan of the Father, Son, and Spirit, including us in their shared love and goodness so that we might experience our union and oneness. We began in innocence and romance and were called to be His beloved.
